NORWALK Following approval by the companys creditors, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court confirmed Southern Airs plan of reorganization last month, allowing the company to meet its goal of emerging from Chapter 11 in less than one year. Southern provides scheduled and chartered air transportation of cargo, primarily between the U.S. and Hong Kong, Korea and other international destinations. The Chapter 11 case forced Southern to reevaluate its aircraft leases and streamline its operations. During the reorganization, Southern entered into two leases of Boeing 747-200 freighter aircraft. Meanwhile, Southern consolidated its corporate office to Norwalk. It now has some three-dozen employees in Connecticut and more than 100 overall.
