NEW HAVEN — Swedish furniture retailer Ikea and city officials will host a September 4 official groundbreaking for Ikea’s soon-to-be store at the site of the former Pirelli Building, 500 Sargent Drive. As passers-by will note, ground has technically been "broken" on building the 300,000-square-foot warehouse and retail center for furniture and housewares, though September 4 marks the "official" construction kickoff.
