D.G. Brian Jones has joined Quinnipiac University as a marketing professor in the school of business. He is president of the Association for Historical Research in Marketing. Jones earned his Ph.D. in marketing from Queens University, Kingston, Ontario.
George Miller, M.D. has received the Method to Extend Research Award (MERIT) from the National Institutes of Health. Miller is a Yale researcher who studies the molecular biology of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). His 30-year research on EBV includes defining the major properties the virus. The MERIT Award provides a $2.1 million, five-year grant to aid further research.
The University of Bridgeport has announced the appointment of Gad Selig, PMP as director of its new Center for Business Information Technologies (CBIT). Selig has more than 30-years of academic and corporate experience. CBIT will be a technology-training center for Information Technology.
H. Pearce Real Estate Co. has announced New Havener Wojteck Borowski has been named a residential sales associate in the companys New Haven office. Borowski is an entrepreneur and inventor of software with more than ten years experience working with computer graphics and software design for Fortune 500 companies.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven has appointed new directors. They include Gary R. Davidson, of Saint Raphael Health Care System; Eric Fjeldal of Yalesville United Methodist Church; Sandy Griffin, of Peoples Bank in New Haven; Alberta R. Mendenhall, who works on the Second Injury Fund in the Office of the State Treasurer; Marvin Miller, of Walters & Assoc. Financial Group LLC; Nathan Speck-Ewer, associate pastor of Trinity Church on the New Haven Green; Joe Tristine, Precision Resource of Shelton; and Jonathan Wood, Fleet Bank in New Haven.
The Marriott hotel chain has named Michael A. Hamilton of East Haven assistant general manager of SpringHill Suites in Milford. Hamilton worked for 15 years at the Residence Inn in New Haven, where he held positions of sales manager, director of sales and general manager.
Aileen DeFeo has joined William Orange Realty as operations manager and licensed Realtor. She will oversee day-to-day operations of 46 Realtors and three William Orange Realty offices. DeFeo has spent 15 years in the mortgage industry and specializes in management and negotiations.
Thomas M. Murphy Com& Assoc. Inc. of Shelton has named Nathaniel Garfield vice president. His responsibility is to work with Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton Co. retail offices, introducing them to a newly developed portfolio of employee benefits branded products. Garfield has experience on both the company and brokerage side of business, as well as as a benefits producer. Most recently he was with Union Central Mutual Life Insurance Co.
The Hole in the Wall Gang has announced the appointment of J. Michael Smiles as director of development. He will oversee the camps annual $5 million fundraising program. Smiles has more than 20 years of fundraising experience, most recently as director of development for Mystic Seaport Museum. He earned his MBA from the University of New Haven.
Vincent J. Calabrese, CPA, of Peoples Bank has been promoted to senior vice president. He has worked for Peoples for 15 years and has served as head of the financial management group since 2001.
Richard Lyon, P.E. has joined Milone & MacBroom Inc. as manager of the firms Structural Engineering group. He has structural engineering experience on bridge rehabilitation and reconstruction projects as well as structural design of water treatment plants, institutional facilities and commercial and industrial buildings. Lyon is a registered professional engineer and earned his masters degree in civil engineering from UConn.
Centerprise Advisors Litigation and Valuation Services (CALVS) of New Haven has hired Lisa J. Berube as a senior litigation consultant. She recently joined CALVS to serve in litigation support services and business valuations while marketing Centerprise and its services. In this position Berube will focus on wrongful termination, wrongful death and employment law. She previously worked with Meyers Brothers PC Healthcare Services division as a senior accountant.

Thomas Tolisano of Branford has been appointed administrator of Milford Health Care Center. He has been a health care administrator for more than 30 years and most recently was president and CEO of Brittany Farms Health Center in New Britain.
Three Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) nurses have achieved national certification in oncology nursing. Kelly OKeefe, R.N., Gynecology / Oncology; Carolyn Demsky, R.N., Pediatric Oncology Cluster / Adolescent Unit; and Marcella Cumur, R.N., gynecology/oncology have joined 22 other YNHH nurses who hold national certifications in oncology nursing.
Ross G. Spiegel, RA, FCSI, CCS, CCCA of Milford was awarded the Lifetime Member Plaque by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He has been a member of CSI for 25 years and served as president from 2001-2002. CSI is an individual membership technical society with 18,000 members.
