Rich Hanley has been promoted to director of graduate programs in the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University. He will oversee the graduate journalism and e-media programs. Hanley is an assistant professor and teaches courses in interactive writing for news, entertainment and strategic communications. He earned his master’s degree from Wesleyan University and is currently completing doctoral studies at the University of Rhode Island.

Jonathan Freiman has been named senior counsel for the Litigation Project of the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights (LPLCHR). He is an associate in the appellate practice group at Wiggin & Dana. Freiman’s work for LPLCHR includes the development and implementation of a national litigation strategy addressing balance between national security and human rights.

James E. Rawlings, executive director of community health at Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNNH), has been selected to serve on the NAACP’s national health committee by its national board of directors. Rawlings has worked at YNNH for 20 years and served as a policy analyst in the U.S Department of Health & Human Services. He currently serves on many local non-profit boards in New Haven and throughout Connecticut.

Cytec Industries has appointed David J. Martinelli process/project engineer at the company’s Wallingford facility. He is responsible for evaluating production areas and implementing engineering projects. Martinelli joins Cytec as part of the company’s Leadership Development Program.

Tunxis Management Co. (TMC) has appointed David Bell vice president. He previously was property manager for TMC. Bell has experience managing properties including commercial and governmental high-rise buildings and retail facilities. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Eran Broshy has been elected to the Neurogen Corp.’s board of directors. He is the chief executive officer of Ventiv Health. Broshy has health-care management, marketing and sales experience and has worked at the Boston Consulting Group. He earned his M.B.A from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.

The Jewish Home for the Aged has announced the appointment of Beth E. Goldstein, LPNH as president/administrator. She worked for 13 years as administrator for the Dumont Masonic Home (DMH) in New York. Goldstein coordinated the expansion and renovation of DMH including the development of two clinical units.

Matthew P. Campione, M.D. has been appointed an honorary member of the Masonic Healthcare Center’s (MHC) staff. He has provided care as a surgical consultant to residents and patients of MHC since 1966. Campione was president of CBS Surgical Group and was affiliated with several Connecticut hospitals. He presently serves on the board of directors of MHC and is an emeritus member of Masonicare’s board of directors.

Cindy Semrau was awarded the National Assoc. of Membership Development (NAMD) Circle of Champions Lifetime Achievement award in the gold category. Semrau is the vice president of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. The NAMD award recognizes more than 1,000 new member sales and the gold category is the third-highest of four categories.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) in Bridgeport has appointed Anita T. Gliniecki academic dean. She was previously vice president for academic services at Saint Clair County (Mich.) Community College. Gliniecki has more than 25 years’ experience in higher education, including work in student-centered learning, partnering with educational institutions and grant writing. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Wayne State (Mich.) University.
The American Hotel & Lodging Assoc. awarded Ghanshyam Bhatt its Outstanding General Manager of the Year award in the small property size category. Bhatt is general manager of Super 8 Motel in Milford.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International has announced new directors: Alison Adams of Cheshire; Diane Fine, Woodbridge; Elizabeth Haas, Branford; Jane Farington, Branford; and William Martinez of Woodbridge.

Bernadette Holodak has been named assistant director of development at Marrakech Inc. in Woodbridge. She is responsible for fundraising events, annual fund drive, planned giving and community and company relations. Holodak joined Marrakech in 2001 as special projects coordinator.

H. Pearce Co., Realtors has hired Alison Nalewaik as residential sales associate in its Branford office. Nalewaik has more than 17 years’ experience in health-care administration and most recently worked for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

Dorothy Donarum of Hamden has been promoted to manager of interviewer operations at Quinnipiac University’s Polling Institute (QUPI). She will be responsible for the hiring, monitoring and scheduling of polling staff.

Companions & Homemakers announced the appointment of Kevin Lewicki and Jason Guilmette as regional managers. Lewicki is responsible for the Wallingford area and Fairfield County. He is a certified trainer of customer service workers and spent 27 years in the hotel industry. Guilmette is responsible for offices in Old Saybrook, Glastonbury and Plainfield. He has 15 years’ experience in direct sales.

The Wallingford CPA firm of Marenna, Pia & Associates LLC has hired Jason Matthews and Jeffrey Lee as business valuation analysts. Matthews earned his master’s in business administration from Arizona State University and Lee earned his master’s in accounting and finance from Fordham University.
