NEW HAVEN Peyton R. Patterson, chairman, president and CEO of New Haven Savings Bank, is ranked 14th on U.S. Banker magazines list of "The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking."
Topping the list was Sallie Krawcheck, chairman and CEO of Smith Barney, followed by Marjorie Magner, chairman and CEO of the Global Consumer Group of Citigroup.
The magazine surveyed 4,694 female executives at banks nationwide and generated 1,000 candidates for the list.
The 47-year-old Patterson began her career at Corestates/Philadelphia National Bank in 1983. In 1989, she joined Chemical Bank and rose to senior vice president in charge of national consumer lending. In 1997, she joined Dime Savings Bank as executive vice president of consumer financial services. In 2002, she was named chairman, president and CEO of New Haven Savings.
In July, she announced the 165-year-old bank would convert from a mutual savings bank to a public company and buy Savings Bank of Manchester and Tolland Bank.
