SHELTON - Two tattoo parlors are expected to open on Howe Avenue, one perhaps as soon as November 1. They would be Shelton's first in decades. The town's Planning & Zoning Commission recently approved both facilities.
Owned by Bruce Walker, Shelton Tattoo will occupy a 675-square-foot studio at 549 Howe Avenue, the site of an indoor mall called the Mill. Charles (Duck) Unitas will open a tattoo parlor in his existing graphics-design studio in a 420-square-foot storefront at 406 Howe Avenue.
Shelton zoning administrator Rick Schultz said restrictions were placed on the parlors, including the way they advertise and their hours of operation. The parlors must close at 7 p.m., he said.
