Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Associates has named Deborah Pan, M.D. an associate. Pan says she is the only female plastic surgeon in the New Haven area. Pan specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Specialties include breast reconstruction, augmentation and reduction, carpal tunnel syndrome, liposuction and congenital deformities. She earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Sr. Ann Casagrande, executive director of Saint Raphael's Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center, has earned the Humanitarian Award from the Connecticut Association of Not-for-Profit Providers for the Aging. Casagrande has been employed at the health center since 1988 and served as director of resident services and assistant administrator before her current position. Casagrande also worked as coordinator of geriatric outreach at Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford and served as program coordinator at a Cheshire convalescent home.

Edward J. Deak, a professor of economics at Fairfield University, has been appointed to the new Roger M. Lynch Chair in Economics in FU's College of Arts & Sciences. Deak is Connecticut model manager for the New England Economic Project and author of The Economics of e-Commerce and the Internet. He testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Financial Services and Technology regarding Y2K. Deak joined Fairfield in 1970 and became a full-time professor in 1980.

Christopher P. Ball has been appointed assistant professor of economics in the School of Business at Quinnipiac University. He specializes in international macroeconomics, industrial organization and econometrics. Ball has presented a paper, "Inflation Targeting or Fear of Floating in Disguise: The Case of Mexico," co-authored with Javier Reyes at national conferences. He taught at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, has served as a project consultant to the Hungarian Atlantic Council in Budapest, and worked for the Economic Research Laboratory conducting experiments.

The March of Dimes' Connecticut chapter has named two Yale University School of Medicine faculty to serve as co-chairs for the Star Chefs Auction (SCA) of Greater New Haven, scheduled for November 18 at the Omni Hotel. Charles J. Lockwood, M.D, the Anita O'Keefe Young professor of Women's Health and chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, and Margaret K. Hostetter, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics. Funds raised from the event will support March of Dimes efforts to fight prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality.

Dijuana Lewis has been named senior vice president of health-care management for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield (ABCBS) East Region. She has been with ABCBS since 1996 and served as vice president of Health Care Management in Indiana.

The Quinnipiack Club has named Brooks Bradbury general manager. He served as general manager of the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Mass. for ten years. Bradbury served on the board of advisors of Historic Hotels of America, was vice president of the Berkshire Visitors Bureau and was president of the Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of the Cornell University General Managers Program.

Eric Starelli has been promoted to sponsorship sales manager for Pilot Pen Tennis in New Haven. He has served as operations manager at the event for the last two years and was operations supervisor at the Nasdaq-100 Open. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a degree in finance.

HealthNet of the Northeast Inc. announced the appointment of William Stapleton as chief strategy, product and marketing officer. He most recently served as chief financial officer of CCN Managed Care Inc. in San Diego and as regional president of Oxford Health Plans Inc in Chicago.

Ronald J. Reuter, principal of R.J. Reuter LLC Business Consulting in Milford, has been elected president of the Connecticut chapter of the Turnaround Management Association for 2003-04. Kevin Tierney, president of Workout Solutions Inc. in Guilford, was elected secretary and Linda Simmons, senior associate of the Altma Group in Milford, vice president of membership.

The Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce (GVCC) has named William M. (Bing) Miller of Shelton, retired principal of Miller Investments, winner of its Platinum Award and Daun Barrett, RN, William M. Miller Jr. and Frederick Ortoli winners of the chamber's Gold Seal Award. The awards honors exemplary community service. The awards banquet will take place November 6 at Connie's Mountain Villa in Derby.

H. Pearce Co. Realtors has hired Stephanie Rank as a residential sales associate. She worked as a fashion editor at Mademoiselle magazine and beauty editor for Seventeen and Ladies Home Journal. Rank also has experience in the cosmetics industry where she developed marketing strategies for Estee Lauder, Revlon and Clinique. She is a regular contributor to House Beautiful and Mademoiselle magazines.

Calcagani Associates has appointed Melissa Stasiak to residential sales associate in the company's North Haven office. She has more than 16 years of customer service experience and is a graduate of the Professional Business Institute.

Nancy Alletto has joined William Orange Realty as a Realtor servicing greater New Haven. She worked eight years in the finance department for a defense contractor. Alletto earned her B.S. from Bryant College.
