ESSEX - Carl Franz Traub, CCIM, SIOR, president of the New Haven real estate firm Traub & Co., died at his home in Essex on October 20. He was 62. Born in Roslyn, N.Y., Traub was educated at Valley Forge Military Academy and the University of Tennessee. A Vietnam veteran, Traub retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991 as a commander. He spent 40 years as a commercial real-estate professional, serving as a vice president of Cushman & Wakefield before starting his own firm.
An accomplished sailor who campaigned his Tartan 40 sloop, Grand Cru, in Off Soundings, Long Island Sound, Traub was a rear commodore of the Watch Hill (R.I.) Yacht Club and a member of the Essex Yacht Club and New York Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife, Regan MacBain Traub, two daughters and three grandchildren.
