| HARTFORD - Beginning November 1, CPTV2, Connecticut Public Broadcasting's cable channel devoted to lifelong learning, was replaced on cable systems across the state by the Connecticut Network (CT-N), which covers state government. Until now occupying about 50 percent of CPTV2's broadcast day, CT-N is now available full-time. CT-N was launched in 1999 as a partnership of CPTV, the Connecticut Public Affairs Network, the New England Cable Television Association and the Connecticut Community College system. Since 2000 CPTV2 and CT-N have shared a cable channel. Now, following the start-up phase, CT-N is being spun off as an independent entity. Meanwhile, Connecticut Public Broadcasting is "pursuing opportunities to re-establish CPTV2 on cable systems in the state," say CPTV officials.
