NEW HAVEN - The Hospital of Saint Raphael has been named one of the top hospitals in the country for cardiovascular care in the national study of 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success - 2003. The honor came in a study conducted by Solucient Leadership Institute, an Evanston, Ill.-based health-care information company. Saint Raphael's was recognized in the category of teaching hospitals with cardiovascular residencies. The data used for the study focused on hospitals that treat a broad spectrum of cardiology patients, including those undergoing: acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), congestive heart failure, coronary angioplasty, and coronary artery bypass. The study can be found at www.100tophospitals.com.
Saint Raphael's has a long history of cardiac excellence, pioneering new services and state-of-the-art treatments to meet the needs of patients in this community and beyond," said Charles Riordan, M.D., the HSR's vice president of medical affairs. "While we have always been proud of our accomplishments in cardiac care, it is gratifying that we are also being recognized by this national organization."
