NEW HAVEN - Mayor John DeStefano Jr. is to address the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., at November 24 luncheon. The subject of his speech will be "Investing in Hometown America." In it DeStefano will argue that the 2004 elections must focus on rebuilding economic security through investments in the physical and social infrastructure of cities such as his.
"It's time to invest in our cities and towns again," DeStefano says. "We need the physical and social infrastructure that is required to make our hometowns strong and vibrant, to create the people and jobs that will define our communities, and to foster the ideas that will keep our nation strong."
The speech will be broadcast live on over 400 National Public Radio stations and will be carried by C-SPAN and C-SPAN 2.
