WQUN Wins 2 AP Awards

HAMDEN - WQUN (1220 AM), Quinnipiac University's community radio station, and Eric Marrapodi, a 2003 alumnus of QU'S School of Communications, won first-place awards December 5 in the Associated Press' annual broadcast awards. Marrapodi, who works at CBS News as a researcher for 48 Hours Investigates, won top honors in the spot-news category for his coverage of the I-95 crash that killed four Yale University students last winter. He also grabbed top honors for feature reporting. 'QUN GM Michael Collins said he was not surprised that Marrapodi, of Providence, R.I., won two major awards so early in his broadcasting career. "I and all of us who have worked with Eric are proud of him," Collins said. "At the same time we are not surprised, because of the high level of professionalism he displayed during his years working for WQUN. His first job out of college - CBS-TV's 48 Hours - is a commentary on the quality of Eric's work."
