DERBY - Griffin Hospital has become the first U.S. hospital to rank among Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies To Work for in America" for five consecutive years. At No. 26 on this year's rankings, released December 29, the non-profit Griffin is the smallest company among the top 100 ranked by revenue. The only other Connecticut company to make the list was Norwalk-based retailer Stew Leonard's.
Says Griffin President Patrick Charmel: "Our goal is to make the patient experience at Griffin very different and superior to what is provided at hospitals across the country. We have gained a national reputation for the Planetree patient-centered care model we provide. We could not achieve this goal without the dedication and commitment of each and every employee to our value of mutual respect and support to providing exceptional patient care and customer service."
Added author Cindy Ventrice in her book, Make Their Day! - Employee Recognition That Work, "Griffin Hospital is best known for its remarkable, almost fanatical customer service. When customers feel important, it is a good indicator that employees feel important." Griffin attracts the best people to work there."
