HARTFORD - The National Association of Public Affairs Networks (NAPAN) has been officially incorporated in Connecticut. The association joins together public-affairs channels across the U.S. to share ideas and best practices, provide a knowledge base for start-up networks, and promote on the national stage public affairs TV programming as a valuable community service.
Among the organization's founding members is the Connecticut Network (CT-N) and its president and CEO, Paul Giguere. "Years ago when CT-N was just on the drawing board, I drew heavily on the advice and guidance I received from many of the well-established public affairs networks in other states," notes Giguere. NAPAN's membership is comprised of public affairs networks in more than 30 states. "We all look to open a window on government to the public," Giguere says. "We all seek to help people plug in to the issues they care about, to help them better understand public policy and politics, and to empower their participation in the democratic process. Through NAPAN, we can all work together to further those goals nationally."
