SEYMOUR - Escalating traffic congestion on heavily traveled Route 67 has moved the town's Board of Selectmen to name three residents to serve on a Route 67 study committee. The trio - Ronald Skurat, Howard Simpson and Peter Larson - will work with the Valley Regional Planning Agency, as well as Oxford officials, to study the stretch of Route 67 from Oxford line to Woodbridge.
The state's Department of Transportation (DOT) asked the town to form the committee. According to a DOT transportation planner, there were 36 reported accidents in the 0.6-mile stretch between Martha and Franklin streetss from January 1998 to December 2000.
The committee will brainstorm ideas and solutions and forward them to the DOT for review and action.
