BRIDGEPORT - People's Bank has pledged in excess of $500,000 to the University of Connecticut to support secondary education initiatives and to develop a better-trained workforce in the state. The gift represents the largest ever from a bank in UConn's history.
As a Connecticut bank, we think it's important to form a partnership with Connecticut's flagship university, said People's CEO John A. Klein. It's the duty of business to help keep the best and brightest here in our state.
Through A Partnership To Nurture Connecticut's Future, People's will fund programs in UConn's College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, School of Business, Neag School of Education and the School of Medicine.
Adds UConn President Philip E. Austin, People's investment underscores the expectation that every dollar invested in UConn will help generate a highly skilled workforce and an enriched state economy.
