TransPro Plans Layoffs

NEW HAVEN - TransPro Inc., which manufactures heating and cooling systems, will pay off an unannounced number of workers as part of a restructuring. The layoffs will be accounted as part of a pre-tax restructuring charge of as much as $7 million. The charge-off will be taken between the third quarter of 2001 and the second calendar quarter of next year.
Earlier this month, the company acquired the aluminum heat exchange producing assets of Hot + Cool Holdings Inc., which provides TransPro with additional aluminum manufacturing capabilities at its Nuevo Laredo, Mexico production facility.
