HAMDEN - Five municipal departments have relocated to the Center One office building at 2750 Dixwell Avenue. The mayor's office, finance department, planning and zoning, engineering and economic-development departments have all moved to the upper floor of Center One, henceforth to be known as Hamden Government Center/Town Administrative Offices. The move will free up 20 off-street parking spaces at Town Hall for visitor parking. On-street parking (eight or so spaces) along Dixwell Avenue will be eliminated, allowing for smoother traffic flow and safer exiting from the new visitor lot. Center One offers 50 off-street parking spaces for visitors. Hamden's finance department, previously housed in three locations, is now consolidated into one. The new offices expand the space available to each department and allow for many employees to work in individual offices. As Town Hall is relieved of its severe overcrowding, we can turn our attention to restoring the roof, auditorium and the office space, explains Mayor Carl Amento.
