Medicare HMOs Dropping Policies for Seniors

Hartford-based MedSpan and Farmington-based ConnectiCare confirm that they will drop plans January 1 for senior citizens around the state and the nation. Thousands of members have been dropped during the past three years by the Medicare HMO industry, which blames its moves on inadequate federal reimbursement. With ConnectiCare and MedSpan out of the picture in Connecticut, nearly 39,000 members will be affected.
