Winstanley Enterprises, LLC is leasing approximately 30,000 square feet of space at 300 George Street to Rib-X Pharmaceuticals. Rib-X develops new anti-infectives that can be used to combat antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. Tim Fegan of CB Richard Ellis's New Haven office was the broker for this ten-year deal.
300 George Street's infrastructure and support team is ideal for the specific needs of biotech companies, says Susan Froshauer, PhD, President and CEO of Rib-X. This fact, along with the proximity to Yale University, an increasing number of young professionals moving into the city, and the ability to be in New York or Boston within 2 hours, made the decision to move to George Street very easy.
Concord, Massachusetts-based developer, Winstanley Enterprises, transformed the former SNET office into a 520,000 square-foot Technology Center at 300 George Street.
Renovations and upgrades of the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were designed with the technical needs of biotech companies in mind. These infrastructure improvements can shorten the time, and ease the budget biotech requirements for tenants to get up and running. Located adjacent to Yale University School of Medicine, 300 George Street offers the largest floor plates of any multi-tenant building in Greater New Haven.
We are pleased to have Rib-X, an emerging biotech start-up, join our tenant roster at this important new bioscience research facility, said Carter Winstanley of Winstanley Enterprises. Connecticut is actively fostering the growth of its biotech industry and both the state and the city of New Haven have done a great job attracting new companies.
Rib-X will be joining other biotech and medical companies at 300 George Street including Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Molecular Staging, Inc.; Yale Medical Group; Howard Hughes Medical Institute; and Sopherion Therapeutics, Inc.
