Kenneth M. Blinn has been named director of education and guest services at the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport. A former employee of People's Bank, Blinn has been a frequent volunteer at the museum.
Southern New England Telecommunications Corp. has named John Emra executive director for external affairs. He will be responsible for overseeing the company's relationships with local and state officials and managing the company's external affairs directors. He previously served in Washington, D.C. as a national spokesperson for SNET's parent company, SBC Communications, on regulatory and legislative matters. Before joining SBC, Emra served as an account executive and strategist with a national political consulting firm based in Connecticut and was also director of government affairs for the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, serving as the chamber's primary lobbyist.
Partner Communications of North Haven has named Anthony Verrill chief technology officer. As primary technology strategist, he will chart the company's technology course by identifying emerging technologies and market trends. Partner has also added four systems engineers to its data services team: Mark Knittel formerly worked as a network engineer with Mercury Data and as a network consultant for various IT companies in Alaska. Justin Knox has worked as an information services specialist for Global Wire Inc. and as a software developer for CVI Laser Corp. Tedi Sagal has held technical positions at a variety of companies, including SNET, and has 15 years' experience in hardware installation, desktop troubleshooting and software applications. Sarah Smith previously was MIS manager and network engineer for A/Z Corp. She has 13 years of enterprise networking experience.
Bridgeport-based Fletcher-Thompson Inc., has named three new associates: As project architect/studio coordinator in the education studio, Daniel L. Casinelli will be responsible for master planning, programming, design, construction documents, interior design and the direction of support staff. Douglas R. Disbrow joined Fletcher-Thompson in 1994 following associations with several New York architectural firms. He has served as senior project architect and studio design leader for the firm's corporate and industrial studio. Edward Weber joined the firm in 1993 and works with the construction support services group.
Alan Cohn has been named investigative reporter for WTNH-TV in New Haven. Cohn was previously a freelance correspondent covering stories and live shots for NBC-owned and -operated stations and NBC affiliates across the nation. Before that he was an investigative reporter for WAMI-TV in Miami, Fla.
Jarice Hanson has been named dean of the School Communications at Quinnipiac University. Hanson earned a B.A. from Northeastern Illinois University; her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees (in radio-television-film) came from Northwestern University. She previously was associate dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst, where she spent 14 years as a full-time faculty member, attaining a full professorship in communications before becoming associate dean in 1999.
Vincent Guarniere has joined Calcagni Associates' North Haven office as a residential sales agent. Guerniere was previously vice president of franchising/operations for a health and fitness company.
Also at Quinnipiac, Vin Buccino has been named director of media services. Formerly operations manager of the audio-visual department at Yale University, Buccino be responsible for technical support on campus.
Teresa Twomey has been named executive director of the Nursing Career Center of Connecticut, in Meriden. Twomey, who also works as the neonatal intensive care unit case manager for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, previously was director of Pediatric Services for Interim HealthCare of Hartford.
In Clinton, EMI Inc. has named Leslie Donkin sales and marketing director and Sean Donkin systems manager. Donkin previously worked for DataEase International in Malaysia and Cognos in London. Donkin will focus on streamlining and integrating internal operational systems, as well as on maximizing the use of e-business. Previously he was an applications engineer with Dresser Industries.
CRN International Inc. of Hamden has hired Carolyn Stack as national accounts manager. Stack has 20 years of experience including positions at Actmedia and NBC/Blair. Most recently she was vice president of new business development and headed sales for two Internet companies in New York.
Members of the Trumbull-based Citizens for Patients' Rights recently elected officers. Karen L. Laugel, founder and medical director of Pedi-Care/Pediatric Care Associates of Connecticut, becomes chairman. Gerald E. Martins, Connecticut's first managed care ombudsman, is co-chairman. Robert F. Parillo, employee-benefits specialist for the Health Consultants Group, was named secretary. Mark S. Thompson, executive director of the Fairfield County Medical Assocation, becomes treasurer.
The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) has named committee chairs for its 2001-02 activity year. Philip J. DeCaprio Jr., managing partner in the Branford firm of DeCaprio, Fazzuoli & D'Agostino, will chair of the Educational Trust Fund. William R. Sloman II, managing partner in the Branford firm of Murphy, Sloman & Co., heads the Federal Income Taxation Committee. Bernhard F. Bruder, partner in the Shelton firm of John H. Venman & Co., chairs the Golf Tournament Committee. Vincenzo Fini, partner in the Woodbridge firm of Weinstein & Anastasio, will chair the Accounting & Reporting Standards Committee.
Lawrence A. Fisher has been elected to a three-year term as a trustee of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Society. Executive director of the Barnam Museum, Fisher will also serve on the Audience Development Committee.
H. Pearce Co., Realtors has hired two new residential sales associates. Bob McAdams, who will work in the company's Branford office, has 17 years in residential real estate. Nancy R. Shee, in the Guilford office, previously sold properties on Martha's Vineyard.
Weinstein & Anatasio, P.C. of Woodbridge have announced the promotion of Tammy Lamb, CPA, supervisor and named Kayte Steinert-Threlkeld as the firm's first marketing director. Lamb, a resident of Wallingford, joined the firm in 1994 as staff accountant. She is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Public Accountants. Steinert-Threlkeld previously served as marketing director for a large independent accounting firm in the Southwest. She holds degrees from the University of Connecticut and the University of Missouri.
