Connecticut's new telemarketing law, which went into effect January 1, has answered the public's call.
The so-called no-call list has generated the most interest. Residents wishing not to receive telephone solicitations can contact the state Department of Consumer Protection; the agency, working with the Direct Marketing Association, processes the requests and the information is passed to telemarketers. By the end of January, there were nearly 350,000 households on the list; as of spring, another 270,000 had signed up.
