Consultant Richard Selden of Sand Fiddler Marketing has recommended that the Connecticut River village of Haddam market itself as a friendly place to shop and dine, but discourages the municipality from pursuing a major tourist attraction. The consultant, hired by the town's Economic Development Commission, was charged with identifying ways to attract tourists. He suggests that the town embrace its distinctive identity near the scenic Connecticut River and proposes that private businesses be approached to help develop and promote Haddam Neck, Higganum and Tylerville as areas representing diverse facets of Haddam. B&Bs, inns and hotels should be developed, he concluded.
