LEVERKUSEN, Germany - Wolfgang Plischke, who since 2000 has headed Bayer AG's West Haven-based North American Pharmaceuticals Business Group, has been promoted to general manager of the worldwide Pharmaceuticals Business Group at Bayer AG since January 1. In that capacity he is responsible for global business with prescription drugs. From July 1 forward he will be responsible for Pharmaceuticals and Coordination Commercial Operations at Bayer HealthCare AG.
Plischke started his career in 1980 with Bayer's subsidiary Miles Diagnostics. In 1988 he was placed in charge of marketing in the Pharmaceuticals Business Group in Germany and in 1991 he was appointed to head International Strategic Marketing. In 1995 he became Managing Director of Bayer Yakuhin Ltd., Japan, with responsibility for Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Care. In 2000 he was named to head the West Haven unit..
