ROCKY HILL, CT - The Connecticut General Assembly approved a $20 million bond package for the BioScience Facilities Fund, which would bring to $60 million the amount available since 1998 to help finance the expansion or creation of laboratory space for biotechnology companies. Connecticut Innovations Inc. (CII) manages the fund, which to date has facilitated the creation of more than 225,000 square feet of laboratory space in the state. The bonding, as proposed in Gov. John G. Rowland's capital budget and adopted by an overwhelming bipartisan majority of the legislature, will provide a commitment of $10 million for each of the first two fiscal years.
