Albertus Magnus College has named Frank A. Grasso assistant vice president for development. Grasso comes to AMC from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where he was most recently assistant dean for external and student affairs at Columbus School of Law. He previously served as director of annual giving for Catholic University and its law school. A graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University, Grosso received an. M.A. from the George Washington University.

Diane L. Hoadley has been named assistant vice president and commercial loan officer at Essex Savings Bank. She previously served as vice president of the Southington Savings Bank and assistant treasurer and commercial loan officer at Branford Savings Bank. Hoadley earned a B.S. in economics from Quinnipiac College. She is also a graduate of the Connecticut School of Finance & Management.

Daniel M. Bills has been appointed materials manager/master production planner at Cytec Industries' Wallingford facility. Previously Bills was scheduling engineer for G.E. Silicones in Waterford, N.Y., where he worked for 25 years. Bills attended Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Charles Howard, a partner and former chair of the litigation department at Shipman & Goodwin LLP, has been appointed by the U.S. Sentencing Commission to a national advisory group that will review and recommend changes to the federal sentencing guideline for organizations. Howard is a nationally recognized expert on corporate ombuds programs and has extensive experience representing ombuds programs at national and international corporations.

Leggette, Brashears & Graham Inc., a professional groundwater and environmental engineering services firm, has named Thomas P. Cusack, Robert Good Jr. and W. Thomas West senior associates in its Trumbull office. Cusack has 18 years of experience in hydrogeologic assessments. He holds a B.S. degree in geology from Syracuse University and is a member of the Association of Ground-Water Scientists and Engineers and the American Institute of Professional Geologists. Good, who has 21 years of professional hydrogeologic experience, has a B.A. in geology from Franklin & Marshall College and is a Certified Professional Geologist by the American Institute of Professional Geologists and a licensed Environmental Professional in the state of Connecticut. With 17 years of hydrogeologic experience, West holds a B.S. in geology from Long Island University and is a Certified Professional Geologist with the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the Association of Engineering Geologists. He is a licensed environmental professional in Connecticut.

Cummings & Lockwood has announced that Martin A. Clarke, Joshua W. Cohen, Sanford J. Davis, Michael N. Delgass, Eric Grondahl, Peter W. Hull and Douglas H. Olin have been named partners of the firm. Clarke previously worked in treasury at Chase Manhattan Bank and in capital markets at Marine Midland Bank. Cohen, a member of the company's Creditors' Rights Group, is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute as well as the Connecticut and New York Bar Associations. Davis joined C&L's Corporate, Venture Capital and Tax Groups in 2000 as counsel. He previously served as senior tax council at McGovern & Associates and also worked in the New York office of Deliotte & Touche. Delgass, who joined the firm's Private Clients Group in 1999, was previously associate with the law firms of Kirkland & Ellis in New York and Schiff Hardin & Waite in Chicago. He is a member of C&L's Intellectual Property Group. Hull is a member of C&L's Litigation and Health Law Groups and chair of the White Collar Criminal Defense Group. Prior to joining the firm he served as assistant U.S. attorney in Burlington, Vt. Olin joined the firm in 1999 as an associate in the Private Clients Group.

VSimplify, a Fairfield-based online human resources company, has appointed Peter Dembrowski vice president of sales and Ruth Cisero manager of client services. Dembrowski previously served as platinum sales director at EPIX Inc., a national PEO provider. Cisero has 20 years' experience in customer service, quality control, marketing and operations, serving in executive positions at Polygram, Vestron, Warner Brothers and Allied Digital Technologies.

Matthew Smith, executive director of the Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management Institute at Quinnipiac University, has been appointed director for the fourth annual Successful Women in Business Conference, June 22 at Quinnipiac. The purpose of the event is to help women grow, advance and prosper in business.

Tama Neighbors-Simpson of Mason & Madison has been awarded the 20002 Anna C. Kline Memorial Scholarship by the Connecticut chapter of the American Marketing Association. The award recognizes the efforts and achievements of local collegiate students in the marketing studies and activities. Neighbors-Simpson, who joined M&M in 1998, is a graduate student in the MBA program at the University of New Haven.

Beazley Co., Realtors of Orange has announced the appointment of three new agents: Norma Christian, Denise Herbert and Charles Mensa.

Hamden's Whitney Center appointed Sharon Benton its new spiritual care coordinator. She is responsible for planning and coordinating activities and programs relating to residents' spiritual needs, worship services, spiritual counseling and hospital visits. Benton graduated from the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California.

Patrick Cordle was appointed vice president of sales for BIC's Consumer Products USA division. He reports to Richard McEttrick, senior vice president and general manager. Cordle is responsible for establishing sales direction and programs for the BIC, Wite-Out and Sheaffer stationery brand names and also for lighters and shavers. Cordle joined BIC in 1986 as a sales rep. Since then, he has been national sales manager, southeast regional manager and chain account manager.

Dean Hatton was named president and CEO of New Haven based Higher One, an affinity-based financial services company. Hatton was most recently president and CEO of Yelip Inc., a direct marketing promotion company. He also worked as executive vice president of Carlson Wagonlit Travel and as senior vice president at Citigroup, where he was CEO of Travelers Property Casualty Direct Response.
