Richard L. Leiberfarb has been named president of HealthIS of Wallingford. Lieberfarb was previously COO of manufacturing and service environments and as chief financial officer in medical services and transportation. Previously he served as president and CEO of the Physicians' Telephone Directory.

The Hartford/New Haven offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP have named David P. Jenkins partner in the firm's technology, information, communications and entertainment practice. Jenkins has 14 years' experience providing assurance and business advisory services to technology-related companies in the Hartford/New Haven area, particularly in software, telecommunications and life sciences.

People's Bank of Bridgeport has named Donald T. Heroman executive vice president and chief financial officer. Heroman was previously senior vice president and treasurer of SunTrust Banks Inc. in Atlanta. He joined SunTrust in 1988, working in funding, capital management and venture capital investments.

James J. Cullen is returning to Connecticut to head Gaylord Hospital. Cullen was president of the Hospital of Saint Raphael before leaving three years ago for a new career in Maryland. He has specialized in the financial operations of health care institutions for more than 30 years.

The Yale University School of Medicine has named Robert Udelsman chairman of surgery. Udelsman was most recently the Richard Bennett Darnall professor of surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and director of endocrine and oncologic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. His clinical research focuses on outcome research, particularly on innovative techniques for minimizing the trauma of surgery.

Rafael P. Squitieri, M.D., has been named to the open-heart surgical staff of the department of cardiovascular medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center of Bridgeport. Squitieri earned his bachelor' s degree at Columbia University and his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He is the author of several clinical research publications and holds a U.S. patent of hemodialysis and vascular access.

Jay Brotman has been named partner at Svigals & Partners architecture firm of New Haven. An associate with the firm since 1987, Brotman is responsible for firm management, marketing, project management and design and construction phase services and has a particular focus on laboratory design.

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) recently filled the following leadership positions: Lewis J. Kaufman, partner in the Milford firm of Cohen, Kaufman & Associates, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the board of governors. Stanley L. Cusick, who works in the fiduciary accounting for individual clients department of the New Haven firm of Cummings & Lockwood, has been named chair of the CSCPA trust, estate and gift taxation committee for 2001-02. Bradley D. Kronstat, controller for Uretek Inc. of New Haven, was also named chair of CSCPA's professional ethics committee.

DonnaJean Fredeen has been named dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at Southern Connecticut State University. Fredeen joined SCSU's chemistry department in 1987, was promoted to associate professor and department chair in 1994, was named a full professor in 1996, and appointed interim dean for the School of Arts & Sciences in 1998.

Metaserver Inc. of New Haven has named Michael Aubin chief operating officer. He will work with senior management to drive customer acquisition and revenue, manage delivery of Metaserver' s technology, and oversee daily business functions. Previously Aubin was vice president for global InConcert sales at TIBCO.

Morton E. Salomon has been named chair of the department of emergency medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Previously Salomon was senior vice chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and director of emergency services at Montefiore Medical Center/The University Hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

John W. Hogan, senior principal in the New Haven law firm of Hogan & Rini, has been named vice president of the Connecticut Bar Association. Hogan was a member of the CBA' s House of Delegates from 1978 to 1983, and held leadership positions on several CBA committees.

Mason & Madison Public Relations has promoted Lynn Luczkowski to vice president and director. Previously vice president/management supervisor, Luczkowski will focus on new business development, agency promotion and staff training, as director.

DNE Technologies Inc. of Wallingford has named Jose J. Chirinos director of Latin American sales. Chirinos joins DNE from Lucent Technologies, where he was responsible for sales of wireless and wireline systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Members of the Hamden-based Connecticut Building Congress have elected Kenneth J. Russo president. Russo lives in Waterbury and is a manager with Frank E. Downes Co., Inc. of New Britain. Chris-Philip Onofrio, a vice president with Frank Mercedes & Sons of Stamford, was named president-elect. John Oliveto, principal of Fletcher-Thompson, Inc. in Bridgeport, was re-elected first vice president, and Robert Viteli, a principal with Blakeslee Prestresss Inc. of Branford, was elected second vice president.

Todd R. Gibbs has been named director of the Parents' Fund at Quinnipiac University, where he will be responsible for recruiting and supporting the parent volunteer structure and managing the parents' fundraising program. Before coming to Quinnipiac, Gibbs was director of alumni at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury. Also at Quinnipiac, Georgia J. Dickinson has been appointed director of annual giving. Formerly, Dickinson was director of development at the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy/Lauralton Hall for eight years.

Essex Savings Bank announced the election of six trustees and four directors at the bank's 150th-annual meeting. Incumbents re-elected to a five-year term as trustees include: bank president Gregory Shook of Madison, Richard Swan of Madison, Kenneth Gibble of Old Saybrook, Jon Joslow of Chester, and Jane March and David Spears, both of Old Lyme. Incumbent directors re-elected to three-year terms are: John Rafal of Old Lyme, Carol Ryland of Essex, Gary Reynolds of Lyme and Richard Swan, who resides in Madison.
