DSL.net To Field-Test Local Trunk Gateway

NEW HAVEN - DSL.net Inc. (NASDAQ: DSLN), which provides high-speed Internet access to small to mid-sized businesses, will begin field testing of the Copper Mountain Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: CMTN) VicinityVoice 100 Local Trunk Gateway in its existing network.
By incorporating the VicinityVoice Gateway's functionality, DSL.net hopes to leverage its existing network infrastructure to support voice capabilities over its DSL facilities.
DSL.net offers customers a symmetrical digital subscriber line (SDSL) service that delivers high-speed Internet connectivity, Web hosting, enhanced e-mail capabilities and more, using ordinary copper telephone wire. Unlike many other providers of DSL service, DSL.net is a facilities-based provider that deals directly with its customers, affording businesses a single point of contact for the Internet access and services.
The VicinityVoice Gateway is designed to inter-operate with Copper Mountain's CopperEdge DSL concentrators and CopperRocket MGCP-enabled integrated access devices, allowing broadband providers to reduce the cost of transporting local phone calls between packet-voice customers and the public switched telephone network.
