Fighting Blight in Hamden

| HAMDEN - Mayor Carl Amento, Community Development Director Dale Kroop and Community Development Program Manager Andrea Lobo-Wadley have announced an aggressive blight removal program funded by a federal Community Block Grant. The focus is lower Dixwell Avenue, from the Hamden town line to Putman Avenue. Improvements include: removing graffiti, power-washing sidewalks, landscaping business districts, installing new ornamental trash receptacles, a new “Welcome to Hamden” sign and litter clean-up. The project was awarded to ECL, a local contractor, in the amount of $37,000.
