NEW HAVEN - Food writers from near and far headed for the Elm City in late June, forks in hand, for a "Food Familiarization Tour" June 27-29. Salivating scribes sampled sumptuous fares at a dozen city eateries as well as tours of Yale, the Metropolitan Opera's Tosca on the Green and more.
"When it comes to palatable pleasures, it doesn1t get any tastier than New Haven," said Susan L. Hartt, executive director of Market New Haven. "A food familiarization tour is the best way to expose people outside the city to the delightful array of restaurants we have here."
Publications expected to be represented (the event took place after BNH went to press) included TV Guide, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Connecticut magazine (which presumably knows the lay of the land here but whoever heard of a writer turning down a free meal?).
