HADDAM - Youth & Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth has contracted with the Human Resources Agency (HRA of New Britain to write, produce and videotape public-service announcements to air on cable systems in Meriden, Middletown, New Britain and Bristol. The video whizzes who will create the PSAs: Students from Haddam-Killingworth High School, which has a fully equipped TV studio and post-production facility. The message will be to make viewers aware of the One-Stop Job Centers that exist to help out-of-work residents find jobs, as well as highlight success stories of young people in three existing job-training programs.
According to Nancy Aborn, communications director for Mid-Connecticut Workforce Investment Inc., "Sixteen thousand dollars has been set aside for the development of the videos where the kids will do it all, have a ball and stay in school to see it through." The funds are part of a larger grant from Mid-Connecticut Workforce Investment to fund a number of year-round programs HRA has created for youths who may face barriers to employment.
