HAMDEN - The third annual Successful Women in Business conference, under the theme "Moving Ahead with Confidence," will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 at Quinnipiac University.

Each year, more than 400 businesswomen, entrepreneurs and artisans throughout Connecticut participate in this event to help women to grow, advance and prosper in business. Workshops throughout the day provide a combination of business, financial and professional growth programs to effect change in the attendees' business and personal lives.

The conference is aimed at women who are business owners, working in the corporate world and non-traditional businesswomen. The event also is for women in career transition.

"The conference provides a solid combination of business and professional information in workshops presented by key industry professionals," says Deborah J. Polydys, founder and principal of Strategic Management Resources, LLC in Southington, who is chairing the event.

This year, workshops will explore five themes: "It's All About You"; "Building the Company/The Business"; "Financing Your Way to Success"; 'Leveraging the Online World"; and "Alternative Business Strategies and Markets." About workshops will explore specific subject areas within each of the main themes.

Broadcast journalist Diane Smith will kick off the event with an address entitled "Positively Speaking." Rita Losee, a national speaker and founder of "Total Success!," a "resource for less stress, more zest and greater success," will follow Smith with a presentation called "Survivor: Winning Your Business with ESP (Entrepreneurial Staying Power)." Nancy Aborn, the former WFSB-TV, Channel 3 reporter who is now president of Patton Communications, will moderate.

The event is sponsored by the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Institute at Quinnipiac University; the Connecticut Small Business Development Center (UCONN); the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce; Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE); and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

Tickets are $79 per person. To register contact the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce at 203-787-6735.
