STORRS - The University of Connecticut has opened its new Agricultural Biotechnology facility. Svigals Associates of New Haven designed the three-story building that will be used for interdisciplinary research on bioengineering and biochemistry of both plants and animals. The project was funded in part by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and by the state legislature as part of UConn 2000. Subsequent phases for the ag-biotech complex include a small animal facility, currently under construction, a state-of-the-art greenhouse and plant-propagation facility and additional laboratory and office space for biotech start-ups currently in design by Svigals Associates.
