ORANGE - A new Applebee's Restaurant has opened at 526 Boston Post Road. The sixth of the neighborhood restaurant chain to open in Connecticut, the casual restaurant specializes in steaks and ribs. According to manager Bruce McLeod, Applebee's worked with Orange officials to assemble a collection of historical views of Orange and other photos which patrons see as they enter the restaurant. Also on view are images of Yale University, the University of New Haven and Amity Regional High School. The schooner Amistad is also represented extensively by drawings, posters and other memorabilia. Applebees is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Founded in 1980 under the name T.J. Applebee's Edibles & Elixirs, Applebee's now has more than 1,200 restaurants worldwide, with headquarters in Overland Park, Kan.
