BRIDGEPORT - U.S. Labor Department officials were in the Park City June 12 to explain how a new federal law might benefit manufacturing workers at 11 Connecticut factories who may have been exposed to radiation or toxic chemicals.
Under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act, affected workers may be eligible for compensation of up to $150,000 in lump-sum payments as well as additional payments for medical expenses.
The 11 state factories identified by the federal energy department include, locally: Anaconda Co. of Waterbury, the Havens Lab of Bridgeport Brass in Bridgeport, Seymour Specialty Wire, and Bridgeport's American Chain & Cable Co.
