HAMDEN - A grand opening celebration was recently held for the new Cash & Carry Grocery Store, located at the former A&P site on State Street. The site was revitalized over the past year with the help of a state Department of Community & Economic Development Urban Act Grant. Over $400,000 was invested in building and site improvements. The location was identified by the State Street Neighborhood Revitalization Zone as the priority project for revitalizing the State Street community. The site has been vacant for more than five years and had become blighted with boarded windows, graffiti and litter.
