HARTFORD - Purchasing managers in Connecticut predict that the recent slow economy will continue through the second quarter, according to a survey by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), and that the outlook for their own industries will remain soft through the next 12 months.
CBIA surveyed 236 members of the Connecticut Association of Purchasing Management Inc. between March 28 and April 23. Respondents' confidence levels were down for both industry and the overall economic outlook. Just 30 percent foresaw an improved industry outlook in the 12 months to come, compared to 36 percent who predicted little change and 34 percent who expected a worsening outlook. For the economy overall, just 18 percent predicted better conditions, while 51 percent saw things getting worse. The remaining 31 percent thought the overall economy would not change significantly.
