Some of the top organizations in state include the Connecticut chapter of NAWBO, the Entrepreneurial Woman's Network, the Women-Owned Business Project, the Woman's Business Development Center and the Business & Professional Women's Clubs. Here's a thumbnail description of what each does as well as contact information.

Nationally, the two biggies are NAWBO and NFWBO. For further information on NAWBO, the organization's Web site is www.nawbo.org; NFWBO can be found at www.nfwbo.org. Under the research section of the Web site, one can find the results of several dozen major research studies during the past decade.
To provide businesswomen with what they need, local chambers of commerce, colleges, universities and business organizations such as SCORE are available in addition to the aforementioned resources.
Other organizations are suited to exchanging information, providing support to help balance the professional with the personal sides of one's life and/or providing a connection to political spheres.
By becoming an involved and active member in such organizations, one can grow a business or a career as well as make difference in both the business community and in the public-policy arena. While the top priorities may differ for women entrepreneurs and employees, it is important that both government and business listen and provide solutions.
