The law firm of Carmody & Torrence in Waterbury has named four new partners, all previously associates with the firm. Kristin Connors concentrates her litigation and health-care law practice on representing individual health-care providers and institutions. She is a graduate of Villanova and a 1992 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law. John R. Horvack Jr. focuses his litigation practice on intellectual property and complex commercial matters for national and international companies. He is a graduate of Boston College and a 1992 graduate of the Quinnipiac School of Law. Howard K. Levine concentrates on corporate, commercial and labor and employment matters. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a 1990 graduate of the University of Bridgeport School of Law. Richard L. Street concentrates on municipal, utility, real estate and commercial matters. He is a graduate of Hamilton College and a 1993 graduate of Duke University School of Law.
St. Vincent's Medical Center of Bridgeport has named Andrew H. Banoff senior vice president of health services. Previously he was president and chief executive officer of Connecticut Health Enterprises. At St. Vincent's he will have responsibility for all affiliated entities and strategic partnerships. Also at St. Vincent's, Robert J. Dubicki was named executive vice president and chief operating officer. He was previously senior vice president, ambulatory center development, for University Hospitals Health Systems in Cleveland. Dubicki assumes day-to-day operational responsibilities for St. Vincent's Medical Center. Lastly, St. Vincent's named Mike H. Summerer, M.D. senior vice president of medical affairs. Summerer previously was senior vice president and chief medical officer of Bronson Healthcare Group in Kalamazoo, Mich. Summerer will be responsible for maintaining the quality of medical care at St. Vincent's and its affiliates and for advancements in clinical services.
Lawrence A. Fisher has been named executive director of the Barnum Museum in Bridgeport. Fisher has designed several projects for the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich., as well as Xavier University in Louisiana. From 1991 to 1996, he was director of exhibitions at Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium. In recent months, Fisher was principal interpretive planner of the Barnum Museum's interpretive master plan, details of which are to be announced.
Mary E. Bimonte has joined Helming & Co., P.C. of Wallingford. She has been a CPA for more than a decade and has both public and private accounting experience. She has worked in strategic planning, overhead cost reduction, budgeting, auditing, financial modeling and forecasting and other areas.
Patricia B. Sweet has been named chairman of the coordinating committee, the governing body of the Regional Cultural Plan for Greater New Haven. She replaces Paul Collard, director of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, who is stepping down after the plan's first two years. Sweet is currently vice president of customer and external relations for the Regional Water Authority. She serves on numerous boards and agencies, including the board of directors of the Arts Council of Greater New Haven.
Pamela Delphenich of Yale University has been elected to the American Institute of Architects' College of Fellows. Delphenich is one of four Connecticut and 72 national architects to be elected in 2001. She was honored because of her contributions as University Planner to the development of priorities, strategies and policies for all physical planning and design at Yale.
Electri-Cables Assemblies Inc. of Shelton has named Robert Hoeppner national sales manager. Hoeppner began his career with General Electric as a product design engineer. He was also marketing director of Edwards Signaling and a product marketing manager at Burndy Corp. in Norwalk.
Theodore H. Goodwin has rejoined the Milford Bank as home mortgage-origination specialist. Goodwin started his banking career at the Milford Bank and held numerous positions there during his 16 years of service. For the past ten years, he has been a mortgage lending producer.
Gina O'Leary has been named patient services manager for the Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital's Dual Diagnosis Unit. O'Leary has extensive experience working with adults with psychiatric and substance-abuse problems. She holds a B.S. degree in biology and nutrition as well as a B.S. in nursing from Southern Connecticut State University.
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has elected new officers to its board of directors. Harold C. Donegan, partner with the New Haven law firm of Sperandeo & Donegan, has been named chairman. Yale University Secretary Linda Koch Lorimer was named vice chair. Additional board members include: Sonia Caban Recalde, John J. Crawford, Frederick P. Leaf, Julia M. McNamara, Jerome H. Myer, Richard E. Nelson, Humbert V. Sacco, Kenneth E. Schaible and Susan Whetstone.
Paul Salce, corporate controller for Ownes, Renz & Lee Construction of Branford, has been elected treasurer of the Hartford chapter of the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA). Salce is a graduate of Sacred Heart University with a B.S. in accounting. He has been with OR&L for five years.
Also at OR&L Construction, Megan Walsh has been named accountant for the construction division. Walsh is a graduate of Holy Cross College. She has held previous positions at Flagship Bank & Trust and the law firm of Lasala, Walsh & Wicklow.
Metaserver Inc. of New Haven has named Rick Eaton chief financial officer. Eaton has 18 years of experience in financial management, principally in the technology sector. Most recently he was chief financial officer and treasurer of Luno Online Services Inc. He has also been involved with several enterprise software companies, including Think Systems Corp., where he was a senior financial executive on a consulting basis.
Achillion Pharmaceuticals of New Haven has named Mingjun Huang director of molecular virology. Huang was graduated from Shanghai University, pursued her doctorate at the University of New Mexico and completed her post-doctoral training at the National Institutes of Health, where she studied the molecular biology of anti-viruses. She has also worked at the National Cancer Institute. Also at Achillion, Doug Buechter was named director of molecular biology and biochemistry. Buechter earned a master's degree in medicinal chemistry from the University of Texas and a doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of California/San Francisco. Previously he was director of biochemistry at Daedalus Technologies. Erin Duffy was named associate director of computational chemistry and informatics. She earned a master's and doctorate in chemistry from Yale University. Before joining Achillion Duffy spent five years with Pfizer's computational chemistry group.
Eleanor C. Seiler has been named senior medical director for Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Connecticut. She will oversee its Connecticut medical team. With Anthem since 1999, Seiler was previously medical director for public-sector accounts.
