ANSONIA - The owner of a Main Street shopping center said last month that he plans to expand the facility. Alan G. Schwartz, president of Glen Equities Ltd. in New York, said there is 106,400 square feet of developable space at the Ansonia Shopping Center, current home to Big Y and Hollywood Video. He said he plans to rent the space to one or more businesses, but did not name any names. "My vision for the future there is a strong retailer who can make a long-term commitment to the community," Schwartz said at a "Taking Care of Business" meeting at Ansonia Town Hall.
James Prestiano, vice chairman of the Ansonia Economic Development Commission, suggested attracting a big-name store or restaurant, such as Chili's, to the space. "Many of us still have to go to Orange or Milford for these things," he said.
