Aquarion To Acquire Maine Firm

BRIDGEPORT - The Aquarion Corp. has agreed to purchase Environmental Engineering & Remediation Co. of Portland, Me. For an undisclosed sum. It is the first acquisition announced by the water utility since it was itself acquired by a British firm, the Kelda Group, PLC, last year. Environmental Engineering & Remediation propvides wastewater-treatment and water-service engineering for municipalities and companies throughout the Northeast. Since its acquisition by Kelda, Aquarion has announced completion of one other deal: the purchase of the Simsbury-based Village Water Co.
