Hamden, Conn. (September 14, 2011) – Whitney Center, a not-for-profit, nationally accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community, was recognized by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund and The United Illuminating Company on September 13, 2011, for their energy conservation efforts during the completion of the Renaissance Expansion.
Whitney Center’s goal throughout the construction process was to implement the most energy-efficient equipment and systems as the project could afford. Whitney Center strives to operate as efficiently as possible and works collaboratively with residents to implement energy conservation initiatives whenever practical.
The Energy Efficiency Fund presented Whitney Center with an Energy Efficiency Leadership plaque and acknowledgment of their incentive check representing the amount of energy that is expected to be conserved through annual energy savings and lifetime energy savings.
“We expect to improve our ongoing maintenance productivity through the combination of higher efficiency equipment, building management system and lighting control package,” stated Michael Rambarose, senior vice president for administration at Whitney Center. “These initiatives will also help to improve the quality of life for our residents and staff by enabling us to easily maintain common space lighting and conditioned air that adapt to changing occupancy needs throughout the day.”
