FARMINGTON, CT March 1, 2010 – Michael Wise becomes President of ConnectiCare health plans today.
Wise has led ConnectiCare since 2005 as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. Over his tenure, he has continued to grow his management over the entire company and is an established leader for the EmblemHealth enterprise. His succession has long been planned internally.
Mickey Herbert says “Since the day he joined the company, he has been an outstanding leader and I knew he would eventually fill my position at ConnectiCare. Over the years, Michael has continued to manage more and more of the company’s activities and this will be an easy transition for him. The company is in great hands.” Mickey Herbert, age 65, announced his plans to retire as President and CEO of ConnectiCare at the beginning of the year.
Wise was previously at Cigna Healthcare where he had served in a variety of senior-level roles since 1999. He has a deep background in the managed care industry and was formerly Chief Financial Officer for Kaiser Permanente in Maryland and Physicians Quality Care in Illinois. Prior to these assignments he held a senior management position with Deloitte & Touche Management Consulting.
He holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Michigan and a BA in Economics with High Distinction from the University of Rochester. He lives locally with his wife, Cynthia and their three children.
