Lifelong Bridgeport resident, John Michael Fabrizi, is now the mayor of Bridgeport. Fabrizi served as president of Bridgeport’s City Council prior to this position. Beginning his political career in 1983, Fabrizi has served as an elected representative to the Bridgeport Civil Service Commission, and served as the commission’s president for nine years. Fabrizi was elected to the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee and the Democratic State Central Committee. In 1997, he was elected as representative on the Bridgeport City Council and later became the council’s president. Fabrizi served as assistant director of Bridgeport’s adult education program, was a teacher, served on the boards of the American Red Cross, Hall Neighborhood House, the Raphola Taylor Center and served as co-chair of the United Way’s fundraising campaign. A graduate of the Bridgeport public school system, Fabrizi earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Sixth Year diploma from the University of Bridgeport.
