ANNA EHL
TO POSITION OF MANAGING DIRECTOR
New Haven, CT – James Andreassi, Artistic Director of the Elm Shakespeare Company, and the company’s Board of Trustees have announced the appointment of Anna Ehl as the company’s new professional Managing Director. Ms. Ehl began her duties in time to oversee the company’s production of Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning play Art, which played April 15 through 25 in the Kehler Liddell Gallery in New Haven’s Westville neighborhood.
“I am personally delighted that Anna is on board with us and sharing her broad range of skills on a daily basis,” said Mr. Andreassi. “She has a remarkably diverse background as an arts administrator, entertainment professional, and educator, giving her a depth of experience that matches our needs ideally.”

It’s a very exciting time to be coming on board with such an artistically vibrant company.”
Anna Ehl was born into a performing arts family. She started working in theater and event management at 14. By the age of 19, she had graduated summa cum laude from UCLA's top-ranked theater school where she studied production, design and performance. She has managed events and performances for entertainment companies, corporate clients, Fortune 500 executives, and top 40 recording artists. Companies and artists Ms. Ehl has worked with include: Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The San Francisco Mime Troupe, California Shakespeare Theater, Theater Rhinoceros, San Francisco and New York Fringe Festivals, The Asia Society, The Knitting Factory, Le Poisson Rouge, The Willows Theater, Opera Omnia, Fader Magazine, Mos Def, Estelle, Patti Smith, Lou Reed, Steve Reich, Rickie Lee Jones, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Richie Havens, Nona Hendrix, Paul Simon and many others.
Ms. Ehl has successfully founded, run, and/or taught for several internship and educational programs dedicated to teaching theater and live event skills. She co-founded and ran the technical apprenticeship program at Le Poisson Rouge and taught theater for Pacific Hills School and California Shakespeare Theater, as well as for many others. She is also a composer and engineer for Electric Lights Music, a Connecticut based sound production studio, where she records and mixes music for a variety of artists as well as composing music for a wide assortment of projects.
Founded in 1995, The Elm Shakespeare Company has rapidly become one of Connecticut’s most exciting professional theater companies. In addition to its recent indoor production and annual summer performances in New Haven/Hamden’s Edgerton Park – the 2010 summer production will be Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, performed free of charge with donations suggested, from August 19 through September 5 – the company provides long-term residencies and touring performances to schools throughout Connecticut, an after school program in collaboration with LEAP and a summer camp in collaboration with the Housing Authority of New Haven.
