SHELTON - Looking to retain talent for possible future employment with Connecticut companies, the state chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG Connecticut) hosted a March 29 investment-banking competition for business-school students. Held at the offices of accounting firm BlumShapiro, the event allowed student-teams from Quinnipiac, UConn and Yale to work on a case study designed to give them real-world experience in financial advising, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking and private equity. The competition called for the students to give M&A advice to a panel of ACG/CT members. The winning team, which will receive the ACG/CT Cup and a cash award, will be announced April 7 at the organization's 2010 conference in Stamford, called "Investing in and Growing Consumer Product Companies."
