Attorney General and now Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal has once again been rebuffed by the scientific community over his attack on the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

In 2006 Blumenthal threatened to sue the society over the group's recommended treatments for Lyme Disease.

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) represents physicians, scientists and other health-care professionals who specialize in infectious diseases. And among other programs, the group creates industry standard practice guidelines.

Blumenthal has aligned himself with "chronic Lyme Disease" advocates that want doctors to provide long-term antibiotic treatments. Researchers at Yale, UCONN and across the country did try to convince Blumenthal to withdraw his attack on the scientific group. Blumenthal insisted on a new review by other scientists and physicians, and now after an extensive review they unanimously endorsed the existing guidelines.

Blumenthal has tried to kick the can down the street saying he was reviewing the new report, but it is time for him to admit he was wrong and explain the true reason for his attack on the Lyme diseases guidelines in the first place.
