HAMDEN — After six months of product evaluation, an undisclosed U.S. medical-device manufacturer has purchased an unknown number of iCure Spot Curing System. IRphotonics designed the innovative new system that combines thermal and spot curing into one device by using infrared light to generate heat.
The device manufacturer said it selected the iCure because it streamlined the manufacturing process, simplifying a multiple-step process into a single step while simultaneously cutting production time by more than 30 minutes. The iCure will be used to bond microelectronic components on disposable medical devices. It can also be used for localized heat welding of thermoplastics, microsoldering, fixing lenses and spot curing of thermal epoxies.
