Getting Gas to Peru

peruflagDANBURY — Industrial gases company Praxair has opened a new air-separation unit (ASU) in Lima, Peru.

The separation unit is set up to expand the companyÂ’s supply of industrial gases to the city, which is one of the largest producers of zinc in the world.

The new plant utilizes energy efficient technology and has a capacity of 300 tons per day of oxygen, nitrogen and argon. The ASU will generate oxygen for the refinery and liquefied industrial gases to meet growing demand in the region. Industries expected to be served by the new Praxair facilities include food and beverage, metal fabrication, health care and chemical.

Meanwhile, Praxair was also named to NewsweekÂ’s 2012 Green Rankings list, which assesses the environmental performance of the largest publicly traded companies in the U.S. and around the world.
