NEW HAVEN — After 18 years in business as Janet Leslie Productions, Harvey Adelberg and Janet Leslie Adelberg are passing the baton to their daughter, Liza, to continue the business as Q Media Works. The Q stands for “Quintessential,” which Liza Adelberg says she believes aptly communicates the new personality of the business.
Adelberg fille has spent the majority of her time focusing on the rapidly changing landscape of new media, which, she says, has created a special niche for the agency. In 1999, she graduated from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst with a BA in psychology after returning from a year abroad in Manchester, UK. She began her career selling advertising at WTIC-AM radio in the Hartford market. In 2001, Liza Adelberg joined her family’s advertising agency and began honing her marketing and advertising skills.
Her parents worked at WTNH-TV before founding their own agency. Harvey was local sales manager and Janet producing a 30-minute infomercial, “Connecticut Business Review, ” a show that she produced independently for 14 years after WTNH was sold to Lin Broadcasting in 1995.
Both Janet and Harvey will remain active as Liza assumes the role of agency principal. Says the younger Adelberg: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue the legacy of helping local businesses grow. There is no greater feeling than making your parents proud and doing something that you love.”
